The fascinating collection of Mumbai’s historic Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (CSMVS) can now be seen online. The 99-year-old museum has made its collection accessible online, adopting a format that has been followed by the majority of the world’s major museums since COVID-19 hit last year.

The museum was shut down in 2020 due to the pandemic and was reopened to visitors in February of 2021. Now, with the second wave of COVID going strong, museum authorities have closed its gates again.

Much to the delight of culture and heritage lovers, the museum which is home to a huge collection of sculptures, paintings, natural history specimens, artefacts from the Harappan civilisation and more, can now be seen and admired online.

The virtual tour of CSMVS can be taken via the museum’s official website and offers access to all three of its floors. It is possible to stroll down the halls and look at the interesting pieces housed in the museum.

Don’t pass up on this opportunity. Keep yourself safe.
